Professional Golf Staff
Shawn began playing golf when he was 11. He was the captain of his high school golf team, as well as, when he played golf for Pasadena City College in California. He has been a golf professional since 1990 and became a member of the PGA of America in 1997. Before joining the Northway Golf Center staff, he was the Head Golf Professional at Pine Brook Golf Club in Gloversville and McGregor Golf Links. Shawn received his PGA certification for Instruction in 2008. He attended the 1998 PGA Teaching Summit in New Orleans. Shawn is very passionate about teaching golf and encouraging golfers to maximize their golf experience as we as increase their knowledge of golf. His knowledge of golf, coupled with his tremendouse patience and his sense of humor, have helped thousands of Capital Region golfers strive towards their golfing goals.
Terence Manziano (not pictured)
Terence has been a Class "A" Member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America since 1987. He has numerous golf accomplishments including: NJ Open Qualifier Medalist, US Open Sectional Qualifier and NJ Pro-Pro Champion. He has been a Head Golf Professional at 3 different golf courses in the McAfee, NJ area. Terence was a member of the David Glenz Golf Academy Instruction Staff with David Glenz, the 1998 national PGA Teacher of the year. Terence is accustomed to working with students of all ages and ability levels.
John has had a life long passion for the game of golf. By the age of 15, John had won the County Amateur as well as many junior events, each time breaking 70. At age 21, John turned pro and qualified for the U.S. Open four times. In 1972, John became the head professional at Mohawk Golf Club where he remained for 25 years, retiring as pro emeritus at the end of the 1997 season. In 2000, John joined the staff of Northway Golf Center where he teaches in the Spring and Summer months.
Rick Wright (not pictured)
Rick has been a Class-A PGA Golf Professional for 39 years. He has gained his teaching expertise while serving as the Head Golf Professional at three golf courses, including 28 years at the Edison Club in Clifton Park. Rick has experience at teaching every level of player, from beignner to experienced during his career. He has had great success in developing several of the best junior players in the area. While at the Edison Club, he put on a large Junior Golf Day involving over 250 kids each year. Rick was an accomplished player in his younger years. He also served as President of the Northeastern New York PGA section for 5 years and was a member of the National PGA Board of Directors for 4 years. Rick is available for lessons in the spring and summer months.
